It started with the need for good design

Good design strikes a balance between the needs of inhabitants and its context, site, and climate.

We combine these elements to create refined designs that enhance our client’s lives.

Since 2011, THE MILL: ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN has produced designs that celebrate the beauty and simplicity of the different spaces in which we live, love, learn and work. We celebrate a long history of people-centric design. Our focus is always on our clients, and how we can support their lives through good design.

The Mill is rooted in the principles of climate-responsive architecture while grounded in modernist ideals that prioritise function through clean, efficient design. Our projects have been both celebrated by clients and awarded by peers.

Our team is led by our nominated architect and founding director Shannon Battisson (ARB ACT 2342/NSW10239), and interior designer Sarah Welsh. Together, Shannon and Sarah lead a specialised team of passionate architects, interior designers and drafts people working towards a common vision.
