"The team at The Mill were a pleasure to work with throughout the entire project. From the very first meeting, we felt the team really cared about what we wanted to achieve with our home renovation. We barely had to think twice, and after that first meeting, we knew that we wanted The Mill to design and manage the renovation.

From the advice, they gave throughout and how they handled any hurdles we came across, we could tell the team were experienced. Shannon, who we met with initially for the design phase, knew instantly how to maximise the existing features of our home and meet our needs, with considerations for design features, orientation, light and just generally making sure it would be a practical and beautiful place for a family. 

The team were always approachable and very timely with responses to any questions. Not being experienced with renovations ourselves, we felt at ease knowing The Mill would project manage and support us through to the end. Chris and Sarah dealt with the builder and other contractors regularly and communicated with as necessary so we always felt in the loop.

The finishes of all the products and materials are to such a high standard. We couldn't have achieved this result without the advice and recommendations from Sarah. Her selections were not only to our taste but also complement the overall look of the home.

Shannon, Sarah, Tarryn & the team at The Mill have quite simply improved our quality of life at home. Our renovation journey started just after the 2020 bushfires and continued into COVID, both of which presented some challenges in completing a reno. However, through the team’s professionalism, friendliness and flexibility, we were still able to create a home that we are more than thrilled to be able to call our own. All throughout the process, the team listened carefully to what we had to say about how we wanted to live and what the issues were with our original house. They subsequently created an outstanding design and interior plan to maximise the light, space, storage and flow of the house, while showcasing the views we have out from the new living room. Having just spent our first summer in the house, we found it to be significantly more comfortable to live in, including not having to use the aircon much at all. The placement of the new windows created cross breezes that worked brilliantly. In addition, the Alliance Building Group executed the design with precision, the finishes are perfect and the house is beautiful. Our friends and family have all been floored by the transformation and we’re finding it hard to get rid of guests when they come around! “We engaged Sarah from The Mill Design to create a new space for our clinic. We were moving to new premises to allow the business to expand, and wanted an environment that was highly functional, a pleasure to work in, and welcoming to our clients.

Sarah took the time to establish a lot of detail about our requirements. She also effectively created an aesthetic for the design that embodied the feel we wanted to generate in the space, and was a match for our own style. Many of the elements were things I would never have thought of myself, but have turned out to be ideal when experienced in the finished clinic.

Sarah and the rest of the staff remained involved in the project right through to completion. They were always approachable to us, and worked very well with the builders, helping make the experience as easy and stress-free as possible.

The finished space is great to work in. The spaces allow us to move clients effectively from reception to the treatment rooms, and to the gym with ease. We’ve received many comments from our patients that they love the space and enjoy coming to the clinic. We couldn’t be more happy with the environment Sarah and The Mill created for us!”

“Shannon, Sarah and the team produced documentation that was thorough and detailed, including extensive specification documents to ensure accuracy in costing and clarity for the builders. We had meetings with the Mill and the builders to ensure we were all on the same page, agreeing on the budget and timeframes, both of which were ultimately achieved. By ensuring we were clear on the scope of works and the fit-out upfront, we weren’t confronted with unexpected costs during the construction. Shannon and Sarah were amazing in supporting us throughout the work, constantly keeping the builders on track and on task, ensuring what was delivered was consistent with the brief.

"The task I gave Shannon was challenging to say the least.  She was to design a small studio unit to provide ground floor accommodation within the grounds of the Convent for my health needs as I age.  This was necessary because all accommodation for the Sisters in the existing building is on the first floor.  My directive was also that the new structure, on the front of the block, blends in with the existing building and landscape.

Not only has she achieved this but the actual design has been very creatively prepared with a cathedral ceiling in the sitting room, triple glazed windows and doors, and so much more in keeping with the new technologies and building materials that support energy efficiency and suit the environmental conditions of the Canberra climate eg. two rainwater tanks, solar hot water and a connection to the existing solar electricity supply on the main building."
